1. About this statement
This statement explains which cookies and similar techniques the DDI website uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
Cookies are small files placed on your device by a website. They are used to make a site work, to remember your preferences, to measure how the site is used, and to display content from other services. Similar techniques, such as local storage and pixels, work in comparable ways and are covered by this statement too.
DDI’s use of cookies is governed by article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act and, where cookies involve personal data, by the General Data Protection Regulation. How we handle personal data more generally is set out in our Privacy Statement.
2. Cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary — no consent required
These cookies are needed for the website to function. Without them you could not log in, register for an activity, or pay. They are placed regardless of your choice in the cookie banner, because the law exempts cookies that are strictly necessary to deliver a service you have requested.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| delft-drone-initiative-session | DDI | Keeps you logged in during a visit | Session |
| XSRF-TOKEN | DDI | Protects forms against misuse | Session |
| ddi_cookie_consent | DDI | Records your cookie choice so we do not ask again | 12 months |
| __stripe_mid | Stripe | Payment processing and fraud prevention | 1 year |
| __stripe_sid | Stripe | Payment processing and fraud prevention | 30 minutes |
Payment is handled on Stripe’s own secure payment page, so the two Stripe cookies are placed there rather than on this website.
2.2 Analytics — consent required
We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the website, which pages they use, and how they found us. We use this to improve the site. We do not use it to build advertising profiles.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes visitors | 2 years | |
| _ga_NHJ1FQFMTC | Retains session state | 2 years |
If you refuse, these cookies are not placed and no analytics data about your visit is collected.
2.3 Embedded content — consent required
Some pages show content from Instagram and LinkedIn, such as a feed of our posts. When that content loads, those platforms may place their own cookies and can see that you visited the page concerned. We do not control those cookies.
| Set by | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Instagram / Meta | Displaying embedded content, and that platform’s own purposes | Set by Meta |
| Displaying embedded content, and that platform’s own purposes | Set by LinkedIn |
If you refuse, the embedded content is not loaded and no cookies from these platforms are placed. You can still reach the same content by visiting our profiles directly.
3. Your choices
When you visit the website for the first time, you are asked to choose. You can accept the cookies described in sections 2.2 and 2.3, refuse them, or select categories individually. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and the website works normally either way. Nothing other than the strictly necessary cookies is placed before you make a choice.
You can change your mind at any time through the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. If you withdraw consent, we stop placing the cookies concerned and remove those already placed. This does not undo processing that already took place.
We ask again after 12 months, or sooner if we start using cookies for a new purpose.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the website from working, including logging in and payment.
4. Record of your choice
We record your cookie choice so that we can respect it and demonstrate that it was given. That record contains the date and time, the categories you chose, the version of this statement in force, a truncated IP address and your browser type. It contains no name or contact details, and is not used to identify you.
5. Third parties and transfers outside the EEA
The DDI website is hosted on servers in Germany. Registration data stays on those servers.
Cookies described in sections 2.2 and 2.3 are placed by parties established outside the European Economic Area, which may involve transferring data to the United States. Google, Meta and LinkedIn each participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, on the basis of which the European Commission has decided that the United States offers an adequate level of protection. If you refuse analytics and embedded content, no such transfer takes place in connection with your visit.
6. Changes
We may amend this statement, for example if the website starts using a different service. The version number and date at the top show when it last changed. Where a change means we use cookies for a new purpose, we ask for your consent again.
7. Contact and complaints
Questions about this statement can be sent to support@delftdrones.eu.
Two authorities supervise the rules in this statement. The Authority for Consumers and Markets (Autoriteit Consument en Markt) supervises the placing of cookies under the Telecommunications Act. The Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) supervises the handling of any personal data involved.
If you believe we handle this incorrectly, you can contact us, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with either authority.
