Entry-level course: Build your own drone and gain the skills and knowledge to take off on your drone journey.
Follow-up course that builds on the Engineer Basics. Extends the skill portfolio: Log analysis, 3D printing, drone upgrading. Paired with an engineering exercise: computer vision, control optimization or sensor fusion.

02 Engineering
Delft Drone Initiative as your partner — testing, expertise and development to bring your drone project to the next level.
DDI has a dedicated testing team that conducts regular indoor and outdoor drone tests. Our testing support follows the following procedure.
03 Base
Our base is the largest indoor drone testing facility in the area — yours to rent, or to have set up around your test.
Rent the indoor flight space, the acoustic room or the positioning set-up for your own test campaigns, training days and events.
About us
With a team of Delft engineers and researchers, we have developed and are constantly improving end-to-end (theory–building–flight) drone courses of varying technical depth. Additionally, we partner up with drone R&D companies to help with the transition of drone ideas to practice. We envision a future where, similar to computers, drone technology goes from a technology mainly used by geeks to a technology for everyone.

We are proud to welcome NLR - Netherlands Aerospace Centre as partner of Delft Drone Initiative. As the Netherlands’ national aerospace knowledge institute, NLR plays a leading role in the Dutch aerospace sector. Together, DDI and NLR aim to better connect academia and knowledge institutes with real-world industrial challenges in the field of drones and autonomous systems. The last day of hashtag#PurpleNECtar has come to an end and what an event it was! Together with visitors, we built 30 drones on-site. Normally produced in hashtag#Delft, but this time we moved our production to Nijkerk! The drones are 10-inch FPV systems, capable of carrying up to 4 kg payloads and flying distances up to 25 km. The next step is rigerious testing and adding the final upgrades before they’re ready for take-off. If your organisation needs custom drones for testing or R&D, consider having them built right here in Delft 🇳🇱!
